Can anyone repair a gas boiler?
Only a Gas Safe registered engineer may legally work on a gas boiler. It is an offence for an unregistered person to do so. Always ask for the engineer's Gas Safe ID card before work begins.
What should I do if a pipe bursts?
Turn off the mains water at the stopcock immediately. Open taps to drain remaining water from the system. Locate the burst and do not use that section of pipework. Call a plumber for repair.
How often should a boiler be serviced?
A gas boiler should be serviced annually, ideally before winter. Annual servicing keeps the system safe, maintains efficiency, and helps spot problems early before they become expensive failures.
Why is my heating system losing pressure?
A slow pressure drop usually means a small leak in pipes, radiators or connections. A rapid drop may indicate a more serious leak or failed component. The system should not lose pressure during normal use.
